Schools

During the spring and autumn semesters, we offer various educational programs for school classes, all focusing on the ocean and ocean literacy. The programs are adapted for pupils in preschool, elementary school, high school and university and are financed by Malmö stad among others. Through fun and educational challenges and activities, we want to awaken the students interest and commitment to the amazing environment that hides underneath the surface and to experience how fun it is to learn outside.

Only schools in Malmö city can book our programs, and all of the booking is done online. If you're going to participate in any ofthe programs you can take Naturbussen to and from your visit. Book Naturbussen here.  If your school isn't a part of Malmöcity you can send a booking request to bokning@smkc.se

With this program we want to introduce our younger participants to the amazing big blue ocean and its small but important inhabitants. With simple and fun facts about life under the surface, the children, dressed in waders and equipped with nets and aquascopes, will discover the shallow waters and the shore edge. Whatever little creature we find we take with us and investigate more closely. During this program, the children also get to move, be creative and try out their new knowledge.

"Mitt oändliga hav"

Target group: Grundsärskola, elementary school, grade 2-4

Max number of participants: 26 pupils + teachers

Time: 2,5 h incl. a short break

Location: Marine Education Center, Ribersborgsstigen 4 Malmö

In my infinite ocean, we look at the Sound comparing it to the rest of the world and put it in a larger context. After all, the different oceans, rivers and lakes are actually connected but what separates / unites them? After an introduction about the Sound, among others, from an oceanographic perspective, the students bring with them useful and fantastic facts for the outdoor activity. They are equipped with waders, nets and aquascopes and discover the coast and collect samples in small aquariums. Together we examine the findings, with and without a microscope, and test our new knowledge with simple and educational experiments.

"Hopp i havet - om havets ekosystem"

Max number of participants: 26 pupils + teachers

Time: 2,5 h incl. a short break

Location: Marine Education Center, Ribersborgsstigen 4 Malmö

Everyone of us are dependent on the different ecosystems around the world and we also have the opportunity and duty to protect and restore them in a sustainable way. In order to do that, we need to know more about them.

In this program students get to know and work with the term ecosystem, how they work and what threatens them. With exercises and assignments both indoors and outdoors, students get to playfully and practically explore the Sound's important ecosystem. More info here.

"Vad gör fiskarna på vintern?"

Target group: Grundsärskola, preschool 5-6 years, "F-klass"

Max number of participants: 26 pupils + teachers

Time: 2,5 h incl. a short break

Location: Marine Education Center, Ribersborgsstigen 4 Malmö

The Sound's shallow bottoms is usually full of life. But what does it look like below the surface in the winter and where do the animals go? With this program we want to give the kids easy and fun facts about some of our most common speciesand how they handle the cold season.

With waders, nets and aquascopes, we go out and explore and see if there is any life by the shoreline in the winter. Next on, we explore the aquariums at the center and together we figure out where the animals are most likely to hide. In our creative workshop, the children can paint and create freely based on their own ideas and newfound knowledge of what is happening in the sea in winter.
